RTE Radio Liveline Broadcasts from The Bailey

The Bailey Bar & Eatery was chosen by RTE Radio to broadcast their live show discussing the impact or the recent flooding on both Enniscorthy, both as a town but also on a personal level by hearing the stories of the people who's homes and business have been destroyed.

The Bailey Bar & Eatery had the honour of welcoming RTÉ Radio 1’s Liveline to Enniscorthy, as the show was broadcast live from The Granary Bar, right here within The Bailey. It was a proud moment for our team, our town, and for everyone who continues to show resilience in the face of the recent flooding that has affected so many lives and livelihoods across Enniscorthy.

The programme focused on the very real impact the flooding has had on the town — not just on buildings and streets, but on the people who live here, work here, and pour their hearts into the community every day. Liveline heard from local residents, business owners, workers and families, all speaking honestly about the disruption, the worry, and the ongoing challenges that flooding brings with it.

Importantly, the show also created space for conversation about what comes next. Listeners heard discussions around potential plans, long-term solutions, and the urgent need for practical measures to help prevent and reduce flooding in the future. It was a reminder that while Enniscorthy has endured a lot, there is also a strong will locally to find ways forward — together.

As General Manager of The Bailey Bar & Eatery, I was genuinely moved by what it meant to host such a respected national programme in our premises.

“Having Liveline broadcast from The Granary Bar was a real privilege for all of us at The Bailey. It gave Enniscorthy a platform to be heard, and it brought national attention to the reality our town has been living with. We were proud to open our doors, but more importantly, proud to support our community in telling its story.”

Like many local businesses, we know the pressures flooding creates — from lost trade and damaged stock, to the stress and uncertainty that lingers long after the water recedes. We want to express our sincere support and solidarity with every business owner, manager, and staff member who has been impacted. The hospitality and retail community in Enniscorthy is built on hard work, determination, and local pride — and the past weeks have shown that spirit more than ever.

At The Bailey, we remain committed to supporting the town however we can — by offering a warm welcome, a safe space, and a strong sense of community. We hope the conversations sparked by Liveline will help drive real action, real planning, and real investment in long-term solutions.

Because Enniscorthy deserves more than recovery — it deserves protection, progress, and a future where flooding no longer threatens the heart of the town.

From all of us at The Bailey Bar & Eatery — thank you to Liveline, to everyone who took part, and to everyone continuing to stand strong for Enniscorthy.
